Kirkwood’s infrastructure dates back to 1853, and while our streets have been repaired and upgraded over time, many are now at the end of their life cycle. Prop. T will provide essential funding specifically for transportation projects, which could include streets, alleys, roadways, sidewalks, curbs, and public parking that are owned, leased, or within dedicated easements maintained by the City, ensuring our streets and sidewalks remain safe and functional for the entire community.

For the last ten years, the condition of the streets and sidewalks in Kirkwood has been the biggest concern for residents, according to surveys taken by the community. Prop. T addresses the need for residential street maintenance, sidewalk repairs, and upgrades to our curbs and gutters, helping to control stormwater and improve safety.

To address these concerns, the City of Kirkwood is proposing a solution on the November 5 ballot, Prop. T. The proposal includes a one-half cent sales tax dedicated to funding street and sidewalk maintenance and repair. The sales tax would allow the City to more than double the resurfacing that can be accomplished annually and would allow for upgraded sidewalk, curb and gutter projects throughout the City.
