Contracts for street resurfacing on the above streets were approved by City Council on April 4, 2024. City Streets were selected by the Engineering Department based on pavement condition, routes to local schools, and amount of traffic. These projects are anticipated to start in early summer and be completed prior to school start in August.

Project Status: Construction Completed
Improvements have been constructed on Longview Boulevard!
The Longview Boulevard Improvement Project has analyzed and recommended the best location for sidewalks on Longview Boulevard and East Essex Avenue. The project will also include traffic calming, resurfacing and restriping Longview Boulevard.

The preliminary plan public comment period ended on December 9th. The City has completed preliminary and right of way plans and bidding plans is under construction.

The bidding/construction plans can be viewed here. These are the latest set of plans.
All necessary easements have been acquired for the project. The project was approved by City Council on October 19, 2023. A resident notification dated November 16, 2023 was sent to adjacent property owners to the project which can be viewed here. The City is under contract with Jokerst Paving to complete the project. Construction on the project started on Monday, December 4th. Completion of the project is expected to occur in early summer 2024.

Project Scope: |
This project includes: Placement of advance notification signs, temporary traffic control devices, thorough cleaning, removal of waste material, preparation of all cracks and joints in concrete pavements, and along curb lines, between top of curbs and private driveways, to various concrete streets in the City of Kirkwood. The application of polymer-modified crumb rubber hot pour liquid crack sealer will be applied to all cracks and joints one-eight (1/8) of an inch in width or wider. |

Project Scope: |
This project includes: The City of Kirkwood has identified stormwater problems in yards, streets, and basements involving ponding, flooding, and erosion. Further, the responsibility for stormwater management is divided among several agencies: Metropolitan St. Louis Sewer District (MSD), St. Louis County Highway Department, Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT), the City of Kirkwood, and individual property owners. Therefore, the City desires to develop a community-based Stormwater Master Plan that identifies the problems, identifies stormwater projects, prioritizes the projects, and identifies funding sources. |
