The first “Favorite Buildings” were awarded in 1999. Seven awards were given out that year in four categories including Best Restoration or Enhancement, Best Addition, Best Infill Home and Most Endangered structure. Since 1999, over 200 awards have been conferred by the Landmarks Commission on renovations, restorations, new homes, additions, patios, garages, landscapes, streets and neighborhoods. The awards are scheduled in May to coincide with National Preservation Month and to highlight projects that preserve Kirkwood’s history while also looking to the future. Thanks to all citizens, property owners, architects, and contractors for your appreciation for quality building design and historic preservation.
